A complete rural Málaga day, far from the tourist circuit

This is much more than a tasting. We travel in a genuinely small group from central Málaga to a rural town of 5,000 inhabitants, 550 metres above sea level, where tourism has barely arrived. There, a wonderful 50–60 minute guided walk takes us past beehives, Picual and Hojiblanca olive trees over 300 years old, traditional bush-trained PX, Airén and Doradilla vines, and almond trees close to a century old.

The day continues inside a working cooperative that does not normally receive visitors, where more than one million litres of olive oil and more than one million litres of wine are produced each year to a high standard for export to major importers. The tour is hosted in English; experienced cooperative workers explain parts of the process, with our help translating whenever needed. The visit ends in the barrel room with 5 wines — including internationally award-winning wines — 3 olive oils and an individual tapas pairing.

  • Travellers who want to understand both olive oil and wine through their real production setting.
  • Curious guests who value organic fields, a working cooperative and local food more than a staged tasting room.
  • Small groups comfortable with a 50–60 minute rural walk and a complete 5.5-hour day from Málaga.

You follow the products from the fields to the table

The organic landscape, production rooms, cooperative workers, olive oils, wines and tapas remain connected as one rural story, with WHT transport and English hosting throughout.

FAQ

Where do we meet and what transport is included?

Meet and return at Plaza de la Marina in central Málaga. Round-trip transport in an air-conditioned small-group vehicle, bottled water and tour insurance are included.

When does the tour run and how long does it last?

The confirmed public schedule is Monday and Friday at 09:00. The complete experience lasts 5.5 hours, including transport from Málaga.

How many guests join and how long is the field walk?

Regular departures are limited to a maximum of 8 guests. The guided walk through the organic fields takes around 50–60 minutes; closed, comfortable shoes are recommended.

Is it more about olive oil or wine?

The focus is balanced between both. The day combines cultural immersion, the organic fields and cooperative context with guided tasting and learning around 5 wines and 3 olive oils. This is a real rural cooperative in Mollina, not a staged boutique tasting room.
